OK so then if u read this interview here from January then you can check me being strangely prophetic... there's a bit where I say

Holy shit Ruffy! I should have bought a fuckin lottery ticket! What crystal ball did I drag that out of???

Anyway fast forward 7 months - the complaining is long done and so its time to LOOK FORWARD and so here's a big announcement regarding the immediate future of Ruf Kutz....

For the rest of this year (at least), Ruf Kutz is going to be a Bandcamp-Exclusive label. We are only going to be releasing music on Bandcamp. No vinyl sales, no spotify, just a load of high-quality digital bangers.

I know, I know - this represents a massive shift from when I started the label 10 years ago - "VINYL FOREVER, DIGI CAN KISS MY ASS!" - but u got to adapt or die, right? We are officially post-apocalyptic now - that cyberpunk future I always yearned for has finally arrived so it's time to get all neuromancer...

So here's the deal. LOTS of music on the way. Announcing the first two releases right now:

1: an EP by me of music I've made on my twitch stream from my cellar-studio during lockdown. Doesn't get any more fuckin cyberpunk than that mate.

2: the first in an ongoing series of ambient-not-ambient music compiled to help Extend Your Reach In These Trying Times. The series is called 'EXPANSION PACKS' and number 1 is subtitled 'SPACES'

They are both going to only be available on Bandcamp, it's the only place you'll be able to listen to or buy the music.

WHY BANDCAMP?

Because they are the fucking saviours of the independent musician thats why. Google it and find someone more eloquent than me talking about it, it's not difficult.

For me personally, it's the easiest way for me to get music out there. To properly service a full vinyl + DSP release costs about a grand and a half upfront (advertising, PR, distro setups, manufacturing). You can almost always make your money back and often make a profit but it can take up to 10 years for that to happen. Previously I have had DJ income to fund these releases but right now (and for a while yet) that's not an option.

With bandcamp there's minimal costs to put out a release so it starts earning almost immediately - not great amounts but if I can keep up a steady release schedule and you lot keep supporting then maybe we can get a little platform to build something upon...

So that's it. Now its time for the music to speak!
