RUF DUG - DJ/Producer/Impresario, from Manchester via Sydney, burst onto the scene with tech-disco mutant 'DIRTY', released on Popular People's Front in 2009. The record became a massive clubland smash, and was featured in the top end of year lists by many a respected DJ.
Ruffy followed this up by launching RUF KUTZ - his very own boutique label, putting out ultra-limited edition vinyl-only releases of raw club tracks. RK #1 sold out very quickly (now fetching big cash) and Ruf Kutz #2 caused massive disco destruction, earning Ruffy a solid following from DJs as diverse as EROL ALKAN, RAMADANMAN, MOODYMANN, LADY MISS KIER (Deelite) and many others...
Ruf Dug is no stranger to the party business, however, originally cutting his teeth in Sydney's underground warehouse party scene, throwing and/or soundtracking all-night squat jams, riot squad interventions, lesbian sex parties, three-day mushroom-fuelled psychedelic disco parties and bushland sunrises. Alongside this he released a number of records under a variety of guises AND held down some prestigious residencies in the city, as well as a visiting residency at the epic BURNING MAN festival in the USA and a spell at the prestigious RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY in 2006, being tutored by the likes of CUT CHEMIST, CARL McINTOSH and DERRICK MAY.
In 2008 he left Australia and returned to his home in Manchester, and after blowing crowds away with just a few appearances (including an ELECTRIC ELEPHANT sunset hailed as one of the best ever), Ruf Dug is now firmly ensconsed as a key player in Manchester's burgeoning disco/boogie/cosmic underground with his roadblock WET PLAY parties garnering rave reviews from even the most jaded Manc party folk.
Fresh from a tour of Australia with trips to the USA and Europe lined up for later in 2011, Ruffy is a natural selection for any party, always bringing THE HEAT - expect a sun-blushed selection of psychedelic disco, peakin' vibrations and underground bombs!
